Health disclaimer

Educational, not medical advice.

Last updated 2 June 2026

Aretia gives general educational guidance about training and nutrition, built on published research and standard formulas. This disclaimer is part of the Terms of Service. Read it before you act on anything Aretia shows you.

Aretia is educational, not medical advice

Aretia gives general educational guidance about training and nutrition, built on published research and standard formulas, including the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for energy targets. Every figure it shows cites the study or formula behind it.

That guidance is general. It is not medical, dietary, or professional advice, it is not tailored to your individual health, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

Talk to a professional first

The numbers Aretia produces, including calorie targets, protein targets, training volumes, and rates of weight change, are estimates based on population research. Your own needs can differ. Speak with a doctor or an Accredited Practising Dietitian (the registered title for nutrition professionals in Australia, with equivalents elsewhere) before you act on any target, and especially if you:

  • are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding;
  • are managing a medical condition, an injury, or a medication;
  • have any history of disordered eating or a difficult relationship with food or exercise; or
  • are new to training or returning after a long break.

Exercise carries risk

Resistance training and exercise carry inherent risks, including injury. You take part at your own risk. Use proper technique, work within your ability, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, chest discomfort, or shortness of breath. If something feels wrong, stop and seek medical help. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Eating well matters more than any number

Aretia includes calorie and body-composition targets. These are tools, not goals in themselves. If tracking food or weight starts to feel distressing or compulsive, step back and reach out to a professional or a support service. In Australia, the Butterfly Foundation supports people affected by eating disorders and body image concerns.

Your decisions are your own

You are responsible for your own training, nutrition, and health choices, together with the professionals you consult. To the extent the law allows, Flow Through Logic is not liable for decisions you make based on Aretia. This does not affect any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
